Sad, funny, irreverent, and not necessarily subject related, Voltaire's Boo Hoo runs the gamut with a wicked sense of humor and great musicianship. "FUTURE EX-GIRLFRIEND" describes the classic "Blonde joke" and the singer's frustration and final plan of action to resolve it. "BRAINS", a spoof of American 1950s science fiction space alien movies, combines violin/cello/trombone in a delightful 1940s swing style of music with a really nice jazz trombone solo near the end. The trombone again rules in "...ABOUT A GIRL": a finger-snapping-Las Vegas-Lounge-Singer style lament about an unfaithful woman. "GRAVEYARD PICNIC" is a mournful salute to the Master Of Horror, Edgar Allan Poe. "SEE YOU IN HELL" is the theme song of anyone whose heart has been cruelly broken by someone manipulative, and "LET IT GO" is the sweet-sad song of consolation and acceptance of one who is beginning to struggle from his (or her) knees back to stand on their own two feet onec again. Voltaire has masterfully woven strings and the trombone together to produce a CD that is a delight to listen to-just not with your wife or girlfriend! ;)
